Components of the ProLocatorTM

ProLocatorTM Module is a wireless tracing and personnel flow analysis system, initially targeting hospital needs relating to knowing where physicians are, but expanding to tracing other professionals such as nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, certain types of nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other professionals in a hospital or outpatient setting. ProLocator includes the ProIDTM, an identification tag that can have normal ID features such as picture and name, but also has a radiofrequency (RFID) chip that allows the location of the professional to be monitored in real time. The data obtained from the real time location of these people is analyzed by the ProLocator analysis system that is utilized for locating specific doctors (i.e., a surgeon needed in surgery), documenting compliance with a number of regulatory requirements, process improvement, quality management, business process optimization, personnel optimization, and other administrative purposes.

ProLocatorTM Module is designed to optimize workflow to increase efficiency and offers several significant benefits including:

  • Improved patient safety
  • Improved hospital productivity and case load management
  • Documented time on campus for various trainees and employees
  • Capacity to track clinician availability
  • Ability to determine when the hospital is not sufficiently staffed
  • Reduce time a patient is anesthetized while there is no surgeon available
  • Ability to identify who is in what room; ability to track during lock downs
  • Real time tracking of physicians, students, clinicians
  • Ability to match and coordinate patient with residents, surgeon with nurse, with anesthesiologist, etc.

ProLocator Software: software that monitors the identity and location of each professional specified by the hospital in their business rules. The software comes with a number of flow control and productivity process improvement routines, but through customization and user selection, the hospital can design worker flow processes, monitor outcomes, and refine techniques.

ProLocator Hardware: RFID antennae, cabling and associated hardware as well as the computer server that operates the module.

ProFlowTM Software: automated analytical processes to evaluate flow of physicians and other professionals and the workflow processes that relate the location and movement of professionals to hospital resources.

ProFlowTM Consultation / Customization: a service to expand on the knowledgebase of productivity, efficiency and analytical tools included in ProFlow software to adapt to the specific needs and circumstances of each hospital for productivity or process improvement initiatives.

ProIDTM: a miniature wireless communication device worn just like normal identification cards on a laboratory coat or scrubs that is automatically and passively monitored by the ProLocator Module. The ProID is encoded with identification information that serves to notify the hospital of his or her location as well as serving as a passive log-on device for the computer console.
